Enter Nick Santonastasso. Watching Nick “take the stage” was a lesson in strength and body awareness. He knows his center of gravity and has explored the limits of what his body can do. BTW, he is a world class body builder.
Nick inspired us with his story…and a powerful opening exercise. He asked us to recall a moment that made us happy, and then another, and settle into the feeling. There were more than a few hard-boiled plumbers and drain pros in the room, and I was surprised (delighted) to see some tears.
Nick really connected when he talked about his experiences in middle school. This was the first time he hated his body. The whispered jabs by his classmates landed, and stung. He asked us, “Did you ever feel that way?” Who hasn’t? He became despondent, even suicidal. Yet, the love of his family sustained him. He didn’t want to burden them, or let them down. And a deep desire to be of service and encourage others started to grow.
Nick discovered the video app Vine as a tool to share his personality, and possibilities. He recorded 6 second segments of skateboarding feats and other physical stunts. He exploded into online fame with his “zombie” stunts, even pulling a prank and landing a cameo on The Walking Dead.
But Nick wanted more. He envisioned inspiring people to a no-excuses life, helping them achieve their goals, and expanding his own. As he reinvented himself, he had to face the haters and the naysayers again. Many of his followers liked him as a prankster and didn’t want him to push out of that box. Nick was undeterred. Man, I had goosebumps through his entire program.
This young man is on fire! A few of his goals…
- To speak on the same stage with Tony Robbins – a goal to be achieved later this summer.
- To fill stadiums as a speaker, and as a musician. He play drums. He writes and raps.
- To be on the cover of GQ magazine. He is handsome, and on his way already, having scored a magazine cover during New York Fashion Week.
- To travel the world with his tribe of friends and say YES to businesses and adventures along the way.
